My First Night as a Blogger
Going to my first event as a blogger, I’ll admit, at first I was a bit hesitant. It seemed as though the whole day leading up to the event I went back and forth on if I should go, was it going to be worth it, would I make a good impression, my blog isn’t actually up yet. All in all, I was in my head. Well, I decided to step out of my head with a little push from a friend and go the #CreateConnect event during Nashville Fashion Week 2016 and boy what an amazing time I had.
The event was hosted by The Bloggers Girls (Kayelle & Melissa), who were a duo of bloggers based here in Nashville. There were speakers, vendors, cute cake pops and cookie, and the decorations were very befitting to the events’ aesthetic. The purpose of the event was to bring together local creatives and innovators for networking opportunities with other bloggers, stylists and business owners. The mixture of sugar spice and all things nice gave the atmosphere this stupefying aura that you couldn’t help but to take part in the festivities.
Now I, usually the wall flower, not really socializing with others (outside of people I know). For a moment, I was nervous, thinking that I was in over my head and that I probably wouldn’t get what I expected from the event. Then, it happened. The hosts called for the creatives to talk to someone they didn’t know at the event and that’s exactly what I did. The first person I talk to was a woman who is the founder of a company called Country Goddess specializing in natural skincare products. From there it was like my fire was lit. I talked to probably every vendor, collected tons cards, made lots of blogger friends and possible collaborators. I think the girls hit their marker with this event.
The guest speakers were the owners of JazzyNash mobile Shoetique, Helene Sula, and Payton Kemp who’s a celebrity stylist based here in Nashville. The ladies shed much light on how their careers started, gave us MAJOR KEYS to continue our successful careers in the entertainment industry. Payton Kemp stood out to me the most because I identify with her, doing whatever it takes for her career to succeed. She gave me the advice that someone had once given her and that is what I’ll use to stay true to myself and to my blog. I’m excited about my journey becoming a blogger and I hope you all will enjoy the content I give to you.
