Apr 21 Check On It!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to hang out with an amazing group of Nashville Blogger girls during the Blogger Xchange Photowalk shoot hosted by photographers Christy Hunter and Abbey Rowe. Together they co-host the Mural Photowalk Tour of the Gulch partnered with Airbnb Experiences. The day was filled with frills and thrills, we even got rain on a bit! We were split into two groups; one group with Christy and of course the other with Abbey. Christy took my group on a tour of some of what one would call New Nashville sites and gems in the Gulch. Throughout the tour Christy gave us a brief description of each of the stops including information about the artist(s) who were commissioned to create some of Nashville’s most featured murals.

Our first photo opt was at our meeting spot, the steps right outside of Milk & Honey. I couldn’t find the group at first in typical Jess fashion but anyways— We made great use of the space we had using the stairs and the area around us to create some pretty great photos. Here are some of mine that I loved.

Next, we went to the mural on 11th Ave S. Christy gave us tips and ideas about how to play with the dimensions of the wall and how to create the illusion that you’re either flying or actually in the wall, cool right?!

Next, Christy took us to various hotspots (not pictured, lol) in the gulch such as The Thompson Hotel where she spotted CeeLo Green recently. We stopped by new go to boutiques like Kittenish and Parish where Nashville’s top designers have their pieces sold. Parish is a boutique where you can grab a RTW piece made by Any Old Iron, a label who’s worked with Beyonce. (Sidebar) This is where the day got a little tricky. On our way to the new Grace’s Alley right outside Urban Outfitters it started to rain, like the nasty misty kind of rain. Christy was still able to capture these awesome shots while it all went down.

Lastly, while the drizzling rain gave us a tiny break we traveled to Winky Lux Nashville, which has been open for about a month. Let me tell you, it was like being in a Beauty Con installation that’s right in your backyard! Winky Lux is an American beauty brand specializing in luxury cruelty free products. They are also the seller of the most instagrammed lipstick three years in a row! I had a BLAST playing in their experience rooms. I made all kinds of boomerangs (catch them in my highlights) met some cool blogger pals and made a few connections. We did all of this while the sky literally fell out. The day was everything I could have asked for! I’m getting the hang of this blogging thing.
